Police in Kiryandongo District are holding three prime suspects in connection with the death of Bernard Agiyo, who was allegedly beaten by villagers in Kaduku 2 Village, Kigumba Sub-County, after being caught stealing cattle.
The suspects—Stella Fambe, Richard Opoma, and Faustus Amiku—are in police custody as investigations continue.
Albertine Regional Police Spokesperson Julius Hakiza confirmed the arrests and urged the community to provide any additional information to assist with the investigation.
Hakiza warned the public against taking the law into their own hands, emphasizing that such actions undermine official investigations.
“Avoid killing suspects. When you take the law into your own hands, you not only destroy the investigation but also hinder justice,” Hakiza stated.
Police continue to investigate the incident while reminding communities to report crimes through proper channels to ensure lawful handling of offenders.
